EFA Showhorse is where our future Olympians begin. This unique sport teaches young children and first horse owners many important aspects of owning and show a horse. EFA Showhorse caters for all ages beginning with the leading reign class where children as young as five years of age can compete. How to Start Firstly you will need to become a member of the EFA to compete at official Showhorse events, register your horse and obtain a current performance card. Showhorse competitions are conducted at over 60 clubs throughout Western Australia. These clubs and societies are a good starting point and a visit to one of their event days is a great idea. Lessons / Clinics There are a number of excellent NCAS EFA qualified and accredited coaches. A list of current NCAS registered coaches near you can be found on this website. It is a good idea to have lessons before going to an event. Once you and your coach are confident that you are ready to attend an event many clubs and the State Equestrian Centre hold competition days. These are a good opportunity to familiarise yourself with a competition arena in a friendly atmosphere. For a list of coaches you can use the search coaches facility of this website. Dates / Events You can obtain all the current Showhorse dates under the Calendar feature on this website. Competitions It is always always important for those participants in Showhorse to be familiar with the rules and regulations that govern this sport. For rules and regulations on any major events riders should purchase a Handbook available from the EFA office or equestrian outlets. Clubs Clubs that run eventing events are friendly and encourage new riders and spectators to the sport. Several clubs specialise in teaching and training event riders.
